The Baltic States, also known as Baltic countries are those countries in Northern Europe which are on the Eastern Coast of the Baltic Sea. It is comprised of 3 States, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. These 3 countries offer a wide range of sight-seeing options including old towns, palaces, monuments, and Beautiful Beaches.

Baltic States Estonia

Estonia is the Northern most and smallest of the Baltic States. It has charming old towns and very good heritage which offers many castles, churches and hilltop fortresses. One can see beautiful beaches, forests, and lakes. One can relax at good seaside resorts and spas. Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia is biggest followed by other cities namely Parnu, Turtu, Haapsalu.

The most popular place to visit in Estonia is Tallinn. It offers many attractions in Old town and New town. The old town is a medieval UNESCO World Heritage Site, amazingly preserved city walls and has cobblestoned streets accessible on foot. Toompea Hill offers a good view of the Old City. Some highlights of the old city include bustling shops on Viru Street, 14 th century Town Hall and the 19 th century Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. City also offers Tallinn TV Tower, Kumu Art Museum, Kadriorg Palace, Estonian Open Air Museum and Maritime Museum.
For good beaches and Promenade, one can go to Haapsalu, Parnu.
Soomaa National Park is primarily a peat bog, which was formed 1000 years ago because of glacier melting. Canoeing is the most popular activity in this national park. It is possible to spot deer, elk, beavers, boars, and golden eagles in this Park.
Lahemaa National Park, which is another place worth a visit. It is an hour’s drive from Tallinn. Do not miss Viru Bog when in the park. Explore the Viru Bog on foot, walk on the dry board to see swampy plants n scenery.

Baltic States Lithunia

It is southernmost of Baltic States. It borders with Poland, Latvia, and Belarus. Its capital is Vilnius. It is close to the Belarus border. Vilnius is known for its medieval Old Town. It is famous for its Gothic and Baroque architecture and 18 th -century cathedral built on an old pagan temple site. Hilltop Gediminas Tower is a symbol of the city and nation.
Apart from the Capital City Vilnius and its beautiful churches and old town, Trakai Island Castle is a must- visit place.
Curonian Spit is famous for the largest moving sand dunes in Europe. Hill of Crosses is the country’s premier pilgrimage destination near the city of Siauliai. It is a symbol of the nation’s religious devotion, it has more than 200,000 crosses of various style and sizes. Baltic States Latvia

Latvia has a rich history and cultural traditions. It was ruled by many countries like Germany, Sweden, Poland and Russia which is why it has varied architecture style and Buildings. Latvia has wide beaches and dense forests. The capital city of Latvia is Riga, home to notable wooden and art nouveau architecture and medieval old town.
Riga, the capital city of Latvia is set on the River Daugava and its home to many museums and concert halls. It is also famous for its wooden buildings and art nouveau architecture and a medieval old town with St Peters church.
Latvia is famous for its beautiful white sandy beaches and nationals parks. Gauja national park has many walking trails, caves, cliffs and rock formations.
Kemeri Nationals Park is Latvia’s most impressive natural treasures. Its ancient raised bogs, swamps, forests and lakes were created roughly 8000 years ago. It is a good option for adventurous people to walk on the raised wooden boards and enjoy nature.
Jurmala is a Resort Town near Riga. It is famous for its 33 km long white sandy beach. A day trip takes one to must-see Rundale Palace and Holocaust memorial at Salaspils (and Hill of Crosses in Lithuania which can be easily clubbed in this day trip).
